Wrap-Up of game #3

Chiefs Team Parents

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! What a nail bitter and a fantastic finish to Sunday's game.
We scored on our last offensive possession to pick-up our 3rd win of the season

Game Result:
Chiefs: 7
Raiders: 0

Team Highlights:
We had another new player run in the TD for the team
- That brings our count to 6 different players that have scored w/in the 1st 3 games (outstanding!!!!!)

What Went Well

Defense, Defense, Defense:
Our defense was unbelievable yet again in this game, keeping our opponents out of the end zone the entire game
(And forcing several "3 and out's" for their offensive series). We also had several near interceptions (only being stopped by the multitude of our own players trying to catch the ball at the same time)
- Great job defense (both squads)

What we can work on

Staying focused:
As a team, we had a little trouble this week staying focused both in our pre-game practice (which resulted in a team penalty lap around the track) and during the game. Picture week is always a little more difficult, because the kids are on the field longer, and they have a little more pent up energy after sitting for pictures. But we have a great group of kids, and we really haven't had any issues staying focused before.
- And now that pictures are done, we don't expect any issues for the remainder of the season.

Communication on defense:
As stated above, we had several interception opportunities on defense in this game, which were only prevented when our own players bumped into each other trying to catch the ball. Really, this is an easy one, just a simple "I got it" can alert the other players that we have someone in position to make the catch. We played great defense this game, so missing these interceptions really didn't matter much, but we do want to take advantage of interception opportunities whenever possible going forward
- We'll talk to the kids about keeping constant communication w/ each other on defense.

But, we want to stress that the kids played extremely well in this game, and we were very proud of every one of our players.
- Fantastic job to everybody (The Chiefs are 3-0!!!)

Follow-Up Items:

No games for Memorial Weekend
We have a bye week for the memorial day weekend (no games this Sunday).
Please enjoy the nice weather we are expecting, and come back healthy and ready to go for the 6/1 game.

End of season celebration
We wanted to start gathering ideas for the end of season celebration. As parents and coaches it's important to recognize the kids for all their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments through the season. And we'll have a trophy and team participation award to pass out to every kid. What we do can be as simple as a quick team gathering on the side of the field (after our final game) or it can be a separate more traditional picnic style team party w/ food and drinks (I personally have done both, and prefer the picnic style team party for the kids). But we wanted to gather the interest and availability from the team parents as well. Please let us know by responding on this e-mail w/ either with a 1) Quick team gathering or 2) Picnic style team party. Once we have the level of activity decided, we can then start formalizing the schedule and items needed.

That should be it for now.
- Let us know if you have any questions / concerns.

Sincerely,
Tom Dohring
